Synopsis
Sixteen years ago, an alien ship crashed into Carina Linderoth’s home.
Sixteen years ago, she saw her twin sister for the last time.
Since that night, Carina has spent every waking moment searching for answers. What happened to her sister? Why did the aliens take Sonja and not her? And why do people keep telling her she never had a twin sister—that Sonja isn’t real?
Now, sixteen years later, Carina is approached by a mysterious genetic research company. They want her to work on a top-secret project, genetically engineering the human race with Eluridan—alien—DNA.
For any geneticist, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime.
For Carina, it’s something more.
This is her chance to return to Mount Desert Island, the scene of the crash, home to the stranded aliens. Back to the place where this all began. This is her chance to finally learn what happened to her sister.
If Sonja ever existed.

"This writer’s talent is evident. The story hooked me right from the start as Carina’s life is forever changed after the night of the crash. Her search for the truth is brilliantly executed, realized through layers of tension, emotion, and visually engaging details woven throughout. From the compelling characters to the plot twists, I found myself gravitating to it at every opportunity needing to find out what happened next. If you like The X-Files you would probably love this book. I highly recommend it. I look forward to reading more books by this author.”

“This book book had me from the get-go. It starts with (literally!) a bang, with a giant alien ship crashing to Earth, ruining Carina’s life, starting her on a frustrating (and increasingly dangerous) path, as she strives to find out what the hell happened to her and her sister. Carina isn’t just orphaned, she finds herself smack in the center of of what can only be described as an interstellar conspiracy, pitting aliens against Earth’s governments, with Carina stuck in the middle.

I thought this would be a straight-up adventure, but it turned out to have way more of a human story (in other words: relatable!) than I expected. It touches on mental health issues; there’s even a nice touch of romance. It also serves as a chilling reminder to what humans are doing to this planet, and what will happen if we don’t change our ways—and fast! Soon! Now!”

"Our world is dying and so is every person in it. Then one night it starts to rain - rain like it hasn't in six months. People are desperate for water so they run out with whatever they have to capture it. Then the aliens arrive and nothing is the same for anyone, particularly Sonja and Carina. Carina thinks she's crazy there is no evidence she has a twin sister Sonja or saw an alien that night but she is one hell of a scientist. She's hired to help advance DNA technology but to do so she has to go back to where it all started. Can she survive the memories or will she lose her mind completely? Or were her memories real and where is her sister now?
Loved this book and can't wait for the next one in the series!"
